Durango School District 9-R is accepting applications for District-Wide Secondary Significant Support Needs Special Education Teacher for the 2024/2025 school year.  Must meet CDE and ESSA's requirement for Special Education Teacher by the start date of the position.  Begins August 8, 2024.

 

Teachers in this role  may serve at any school site within the school district in grades K-12 and/or in the Pathways program with the 18-21 year old students.  Teachers in this role are assigned based upon case load/management needs as determined by the Student Support Services Department in conjunction with the school principal.  Teachers may be assigned to Durango High School, Escalante Middle School, Miller Middle School, and/or the Pathways Program.  Teachers may also be assigned to an elementary school if needed. Teachers will predominantly serve students in the Life Skills/AE/Signficant Needs Programming areas. 

 

Teachers in this role serve an additional ten (10) days during the summer Extended School Year Program and are compensated for those additional ten (10) days at their daily rate.

 

Position includes an $10,000 hard-to-fill stipend.

SUMMARY: Develop accommodations and curriculum modifications, develop standards aligned IEPs and ensure fidelity of their implementation. In collaboration with the general education staff plan and deliver specialized instruction and assessment aligned with District learner outcomes and State achievement standards. Supervise assigned students and maintain a positive learning environment. Responsible to actively progress monitor student goals. Work with general education staff to provide direct and indirect support and adapt instruction to meet the individual learning needs of all students resulting in an increased probability of advancing their achievement. Maintain positive inter-personal relationships with students, parents, staff and community members.

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Minimum: Bachelor’s degree of related subject from accredited university. Experience as a Special Education Teacher Required.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS Colorado Teaching License with endorsements for the levels and subject areas teaching. Pass the PLACE or PRAXIS II Test. Meet CDE and ESSA requirements for In-Field Teacher. May be required to complete CPI training depending on assignment.
