SUMMARY: This position will lead, collaborating with key stakeholders, the development and delivery of a comprehensive curriculum and instructional model for ‘The Hub’ Therapeutic Program, acting as instructional and academic coordinator for students accepted and engaged, primarily in the middle school, program. Additionally, this position will support the coordination of academic offerings for expelled students. Candidates will be interested and passionate about working with high-risk students and will be skilled in collaborative development of innovative learning environments and specialized instruction and assessment aligned with the Durango School District 9-R strategic plan. This position will be responsible for organizing and implementing personalized academic learning plans, collaborating with the multi-agency team, and serving the holistic needs of identified students.

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING 

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree of related subject from accredited university. Master’s degree and special education and/or counseling experience preferred.  

 

EXPERIENCE: Experience with and/or the desire to work with youth who have disengaged with learning and are needing to reengage.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:  Colorado Teaching License required.  Colorado Teaching License for the levels and subject areas teaching. Meet CDE and ESSA requirements for In Field.  May be required to complete CPI training depending on assignment. 

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES:

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS & DIRECTION/GUIDANCE: 

Reports to: The Hub Program Director

May assist in supervising and evaluating paraprofessionals • Responsible for supervising the behavior and well-being of students in the classroom, getting on and off the bus, at recess, lunch, and to and from classes. 

 

BUDGET AND/OR RESOURCE RESPONSIBILITY: Assist with planning and monitoring the building budget.
