Description

Job Title:  Maintenance Engineer – General Maintenance  Pay Grade:  ESP Salary Schedule

SUMMARY: Perform skills relating to the maintenance and repair of small engine equipment, kitchen fixtures, landscape fixtures, general maintenance projects and assist other maintenance workers and contractors as needed. Maintain a safe, comfortable, and secure learning environment for students, staff, and the public.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Perform grounds work, including, but not limited to, mowing, weed eating, trimming, mulching, minor fence repairs.
  • Assist with repairing/maintaining sprinkler heads. Assist with seasonal repairs and adjustments to landscape irrigation systems.
  • Perform basic plumbing tasks in the buildings.
  • Replace light bulbs.
  • Repair/replace ceiling tiles.
  • Perform required maintenance repairs as assigned by supervisor, including painting, moving furniture, hanging items on walls, and general maintenance repairs.
  • Receive training on the National Fire Protection Association codes and the Life Safety Codes. Assist other facilities staff in completing fire inspections.
  • Assist other facilities staff, as requested by the supervisor, with facility projects.
  • Represent department management in after-hours emergency “on call” status
  • Perform snow removal duties during the day and in response to emergency call-in situations.
  • Ongoing - Perform other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING :  High school diploma or equivalent. Specialized courses and training in small engine or electrical equipment repair preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:  Experience in general maintenance is preferred.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:  Valid Colorado driver’s license required.  Criminal Background Check required for hire.

 

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to perform troubleshooting techniques.
  • Knowledge of general plumbing repairs.
  • Knowledge of general maintenance as outlined in the essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Skill and ability to use mechanical and electrical tools.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively in a team environment. This position must work closely with custodial, grounds and facility staff.
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies and building/ department procedures.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.

 

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:

  • Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals.
  • Ability to use the internet to communicate and research.
  • Responsible for appropriate and efficient use of repair parts and tools provided by the District.
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with snow removal equipment
