Durango School District 9-R is recruiting licensed substitutes for the 2021 - 2022 school year to provide coverage for teachers.
Jobs pay $125 per day, for a full day job, after a new substutute has completed 5 entry jobs at the rate of $95 per day.
3-5 day consecutive substituting jobs pay $135 per day.
Long term substitute assignments pa $170 per day.
We are recruiting substitutes able to work a flexible schedule at multiple locations and in different positions.
Requirements include:
- Valid Colorado Department of Education teaching license OR
- A 3- or 5-year Colorado substitute authorization OR
- A 1-year Colorado substitute authorization with completion of at least one year os post-secondary education.

- Experience working with children. Experience in a classroom setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal communication, basic language, basic math, and basic writing skills.
- Minimum of two professional or academic references. We do not accept family or friends as references.
Willingness to substitute in the preschool in addition to higher grades is a plus. (Note that Colorado requires additional fingerprints of all preschool staff).
Candidates must also have strong computer skills. Substitutes are required to navigate through electronic system independently to accept and decline assignments; maintain their schedules; view teacher's notes; and communicate with staff.
