Description

Durango School District 9-R is accepting applications for Coordinator of Student Support Services: Diverse Populations.  Position includes full benefits and begins as soon as possible.

 

Work Calendar: Administrator 251 Days

 

 

SUMMARY: Design, implement, and evaluate activities and programs that enhance the educational experience for each learner with specific focus in social emotional learning and behavioral health. Coordinate with district and community resources to develop systems of support and guidance for students and families to positively influence student achievement as well as social and emotional health. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Hold a Colorado Principal or Administrator License, and a Colorado teaching license or Colorado special services provider license.
  • Background in School Counseling, Mental Health, or Special Education preferred.
  • Successful experience in working with diverse student needs with a focus on social emotional learning and supports.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the district’s Comprehensive School Counseling Services
    • Oversee the continued development of a Durango School District 9-R Comprehensive School Counseling Program
  • Develop, plan, implement, and administer a framework Positive Behavior Intervention and Support within the district’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, which emphasizes school culture and social emotional learning
  • Act as liaison with the community for the purpose of developing programs supporting systems of support for wrap around services.  Specifically:
    • La Plata Youth Services Prevention Programs
    • La Plata County Collaborative Management Program
    • La Plata County Suicide Prevention Collaborative
    • San Juan BOCES BETA Program
    • La Plata County Multisystemic Therapy Program
    • EARSS Grant Program, with La Plata Youth Services as the contracted service provider
  • Coordinator of the district’s Crisis Counseling Response Team and provide support to other professionals involved in crisis prevention, intervention, and after care.
  • Coach, evaluate, and collaborate with the District Social Workers, Behavior Center staff, Parent/Guardian School Liaisons, and other Student Service Providers as determined by the Executive Director of Student Support Services.  
  • Assists in reviewing department needs which include staffing, equipment, curriculum, and training. 
  • Attends and leads student-focused multidisciplinary team meetings with a focus on behavior and social emotional support. 
  • Oversees the Behavior Center which provides ABA therapy based on a student’s individual needs.  
  • Seek out and apply for varied funding opportunities related to the position responsibilities, to include local, state, and federal grants
  • Assist in creating, updating, and implementing department procedures and structures
  • Attends regional and state level meetings as a Durango School District 9-R representative and report back to appropriate stakeholders, as assigned by the Executive Director of Student Support Services.
  • Engages community stakeholders through communication, planning, advisory committees, and ongoing collaboration.
  • Assist with the development and monitoring of the budget. 
  • Maintain frequent communication with parents/guardians regarding student achievement, attendance, and general progress.
  • Responsible for supporting Special Education Programs in the district which includes providing technical assistance in the interpretation and implementation of new or existing federal, state and district rules/regulations which directly impact the provision of services to students with disabilities. Ensure compliance with federal, state and district regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
