JOB DESCRIPTION:
|
The alternative education teacher will perform effective teaching methods to ensure student success and promote an exemplary educational program which fosters achievement for the unique needs of alternative learners. Develops and promotes good community relations among community and school clientele.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
|
Hold a valid Science endorsement. Additional endorsement in another content area preferred.
|
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
|
Strong knowledge of content area, teaching methods, learning styles and educational research related to secondary learners in an alternative educational setting.
Deliver a system of social emotional supports to ensure student well-being and successful re-engagement.
Ability to align curriculum and assessments with State Content Standards.
Strong classroom management, communication, organization and planning skills.
Positively impact achievement and differentiate instruction based on the needs of the students by supporting programs designed to increase student achievement.
Demonstrate strong communication and problem-solving skills through collaborative work with students, teachers, parents and administrators.
Willing to support and actively participate in a Professional Learning Community.
Participate collaboratively in teaching teams to design curriculum, formulate assessments, and pursue best teaching practice.
Works collaboratively with school and agency counselors, teachers, administrators, parents and related service providers in the overall educational plan for students to include lessons that address the student’s needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
|
Experience teaching at-risk students preferred. Experience teaching at high school level preferred.
