Summary: Durango School District 9-R is establishing a summer learning program that will support learners in grades K-8 to improve their literacy and numeracy outcomes while also providing opportunities lost due to COVID-19’s impacts on the learning environment.

 

Work Group Composition:

  • Elementary Schools:
    • Two teachers for every grade level (approx.1:10 Teacher:Student Ratio)

 

The ideal teacher will:

  • Be able to build collaborative relationships with other teachers and leaders
  • Quickly build and foster meaningful relationships with and between learners
  • Have standards aligned practice and a proven record of closing achievement gaps
  • Utilize the Elements of Effective Instruction in their daily practice
  • Teaching license with demonstrated capacity for subject being taught. Does not require that it is in field.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction to cohort(s) of students in an engaging manner
  • Follow the district-designed curriculum for the program with creativity and intentionality
  • Use daily formative assessment to monitor and adjust teaching and learning
  • Support the school leaders in monitoring students during transition
  • Be available and present for work from 7:30-12:00, 5 days a week (M-F), from 7/26 – 8/13

 

Eligibility and Compensation:

  • The Summer School Teacher will be paid at your 2021-2022 daily rate prorated for the hours you work (approx. 67.5 hours X your hourly rate)
  • You must hold a valid Colorado License from CDE.  Note that you do not need to be licensed to teach Elementary Education, but you do need to demonstrate the ability to teach Elemenary Education Content.
