Coordinator of Student Support Services: Diverse Populations

 

SUMMARY: Design, implement, and evaluate activities and programs that enhance the educational experience for academically, culturally, and socio-economically diverse students and their families. Coordinate with district and community resources to develop systems of support and guidance for students and families to positively influence student achievement, social and emotional health, and other issues which may impact high school graduation. Manage and maintain a system of direct and indirect supports for district-wide program initiatives for academically, culturally, and socio-economically diverse student populations.  Specifically oversee Culture and Equity, Gifted and Talented, and McKinney Vento.

 

  • Manage support programs academically, culturally, and socio-economically diverse student populations, including systems and programming focused on improving academic achievement, improved social and emotional health and increased attendance and retention.
  • Design and refine culturally affirming mentoring programs, cultural celebrations, and other events throughout the district that nurture a sense of belonging, build community, and encourage constant reflection. Manage systems so that district staff and other community resources can lead these efforts successfully.
  • Establish and maintain positive partnerships with district schools, tribal organizations, and other community partners to ensure that we are fully utilizing all available resources in a systematic and highly personalized way. Increase the understanding of needs, experiences, and culture diverse student populations.
  • In coordination with the executive director, develop a comprehensive plan for professional development, including programs, seminars, workshops, and other events designed to meet the needs of diverse student populations . 
  • Develop systems to maximize impact and relevancy of these events for students, staff, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Analyze data, evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services, and prepare reports and surveys concerning our diverse populations. Regularly reflect on ongoing assessments to ensure that program goals and objectives are met and make course adjustments. 
  • Manage implementation of Title VI grant, including budget, and take responsibility for annual renewals. Ensure that all requirements are met.
  • Manage the Gifted and Talented grant and compliance.
  • Manage Homeless/McKinney-Vento Services
  • Provide leadership in the identification of gifted and talented children. 
  • Support schools in developing Advanced Learning Plans (ALPs) for identified students. Assist schools in the development of school schedules that provide for the delivery of gifted and talented services. 
  • Assist special service providers in meeting the social/emotional needs of gifted and talented students. 
  • Provide leadership on the Gifted and Talented Advisory Council
  • Provide leadership on the Native American Parent Advisory Council. 
  • Assist with state reporting related to Gifted and Talented, Title VI, and McKinney Vento.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Master’s Degree in related field. Degree in gifted or gifted education endorsement for qualified personnel

 

EXPERIENCE: 5 years of teaching experience.  Leadership experience preferred, Principal license preferred

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS: Special Education License or Principal License Preferred. Must currently hold or be eligible to hold a Colorado Administrator License. Criminal background check required for hire. Valid driver’s license.
