Description | Durango School District 9-R is accepting applications for a School Psychologist in the Therapeutic Day School for the 2020/2021 school year. Position begins August 2020.
SUMMARY: The school psychologist will evaluate, assess and provide intervention to ensure student success with the Therapeutic Day School and assigned sites. Develops and promotes good relations among the school community: parents, staff, administration and other community partners. Serve as the IEP Team Leader and case manager for special education students ensuring that all documentation, procedures and services are identified and implemented as written in the Individual Education Plan. This position will be integral to facilitate learning and to promote the cognitive, social and personal development of all students engaged in the Therapeutic Day School program.

- Serve as the lead special education IEP team member for the identification, evaluation, placement and allocation of appropriate resources to implement FAPE.
- Perform cognitive, social, emotional, behavioral and academic assessments to maximize student achievement and success. Interpret assessment data to inform instruction/intervention in a way that is meaningful to the student, parents and service providers.
- Experience in the administration and interpretation of a variety of test instruments to evaluate social, emotional, and behavioral skills.
- Assess and provide intervention services to students and monitor progress.
- Involvement in the development of comprehensive student personalized learning and treatment plans.
- Provide school-based, multi-tiered counseling, as well as, social, emotional and behavioral intervention services to individuals, groups, and parents; including ongoing direct services to students engaged in the Therapeutic Day School.
- Work with administration to identify yearly specific goals and priorities for programs and services.
- Engage in individual and school-wide safety implementation; including crisis response, prevention assessment and intervention for students at-risk of harm to self or others.
- Differentiate instruction based on the needs of the students by supporting programs designed to increase student achievement.
- Support and actively participate in Student Support Team meetings with school staff and community partners.
- Work with school staff and other mental health and special education personnel to provide intervention and consultation regarding the needs of students.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with community agencies/resources.
- Engage in ongoing professional growth and building/district professional activities. Adhere to the professional ethical standards and guidelines developed by the National Association of School Psychology, and/or the American Psychological Association.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Master’s Degree in psychology
EXPERIENCE: Experience as a school psychologist preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS: Valid driver’s license required. Hold a valid Colorado School Psychologist License.

- Experience in data collection and data analysis
- Ability to develop and provide training related to serving students with exceptional needs
- Non-violent and physical intervention techniques
- Ability to promote and follow Board of Education and District Policies, Superintendent’s policies and building/department procedures.
