Job Title:  Licensed Speech/Language Pathologist      Pay Grade:  Student Service Provider Schedule

Typical Work Year:  187 Days – Calendar to be set with supervisor

 

SUMMARY: The speech language pathologist will assess and provide intervention to ensure student success and promote an exemplary educational program which fosters achievement for all students. Develops and promotes good relations among community and school clientele.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Assess and provide intervention services to students who exhibit communication disorders which negatively impact their achievement as well as social functioning behavior (including articulation, receptive/expressive language, auditory processing, fluency, voice, written language and literacy), and monitor progress toward Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
  • Differentiate instruction based on the needs of the students by supporting programs designed to increase student achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with general education teachers in an inclusive classroom environment using co-teaching models 
  • Support and actively participate in a professional learning community.
  • Provide small group and individual services to all levels of student ability (service cognitive delay, autism, learning disability, emotional disability, and speech language eligible students).
  • Track and monitor student progress related to the intervention services provided. Communicate results with IEP services team, parents/guardian(s).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Master’s Degree or higher in communication disorders or speech-language pathology.

 

EXPERIENCE: Experience as a Speech Language Pathologist in an educational setting preferred.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS: Valid driver’s license required.  Hold a valid Colorado School Speech Language Pathologist License.

 

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES: 

  • Communicate effectively in written and oral form using positive interpersonal skills
  • Consultation skills
  • Familiarity of diagnostic assessments for speech language.
  • Strong knowledge of content area, teaching methods, learning styles and educational research related to special education students of all levels and abilities.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, organization and planning skills.
  • Knowledge of phonemic awareness and literacy interventions (i.e.; multisensory reading, reading comprehension, etc).
  • Ability to use effective interventions for at risk learners
  • Experience in data collection and data analysis
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education and District Policies, Superintendent’s policies and building/department procedures.
