Description

Durango School District 9-R is accepting applications for a combined position of School Secretary .5 FTE and Media Aide .3 FTE for at total of .8 FTE (32 hrs/wk) at Animas Valley Elementary School.  Position includes full benefits and begins August 14, 2018.

SUMMARY:  Provide clerical support to the building staff, students, parents, and community.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. D          25%           Greet visitors.  Answer phones, assist callers with questions and give information or route call to appropriate person or department.

 

D          25%           Provide clerical support for the building.  This may include assisting parents and students, assisting with special projects, typing, data entry, preparing correspondence, filing, receiving/preparing mailings, assisting with the collection of fees, maintaining websites and copying.

 

D          20%           Assist with employee time and attendance and student attendance processes.  Communicate with parents regarding student absences.

 

D          15%           Assist with maintaining and monitoring student records and files.

 

D           10%          Assist with monitoring students on lunch or daytime breaks and during time-out sessions.

 

Ongoing  5%         Perform other duties as assigned, including providing back-up coverage to other positions, assisting students in the health clinic and contacting parents/guardians as necessary.  Clinic duties may include assisting students with minor injuries and illnesses, dispensing authorized medication, contact parents or emergency medical personnel if needed and keeping accurate records of care given.

 

               

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: High school diploma or equivalent. 

 

EXPERIENCE: Experience is preferred but may not be necessary for hiring.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:  Criminal background check required for hire.  CPR and First Aid training preferred at hire; required two months after hire.  Meds administration required two months after hire.

  • Operating knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office, email/calendar systems, financial software, publishing software, website maintenance.

SUMMARY Assist in overseeing and organizing all aspects of the library including the use of facilities, equipment technology, collections, etc. in conjunction with the district library.

The frequency and percentage of time of duties may vary based on building or department assignment.

 

  • Performs circulation desk duties and activities; checks in/out books, videos and magazines; checks in/out and/or schedules A/V equipment for staff and students, and other resource materials via the library’s computer program.
  • Assist in maintaining a library climate that promotes reading, learning, collaboration, and flexible use of facilities.
  • Instructs and assists students, staff, and patrons with locating resource materials and the use of the computerized library card catalog; performs circulation updates on computer.
  • Organizes materials; shelves library materials using the Dewey Decimal System; rearranges shelving as necessary. Prepares displays and bulletin boards.
  • Repairs and maintains materials.
  • Supervises students in the library and/or computer lab to maintain a learning atmosphere.
  • Assists in generating overdue notices for resource materials via the computerized library system. Assists in determining costs to replace lost/damaged books, videos, and other resources.  Assists in keeping accurate records of fines/payments.
  • Prepares new materials for circulation. Uses computer library system to manage cataloging new materials.  Research and determine appropriate subject headings and revise as necessary. 
  • Assists in managing inter-library loans.
  • Assists with inventorying computer equipment throughout the school
  • Performs lunch, recess, crosswalk, etc. duties as assigned.
  • Instructs students on proper library behaviors, use of shelf markers, library policies, and care of checked out materials.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
