Job Title: Coordinator of School Counseling       Pay Grade: Administrative Salary Schedule, Range C

Department: Curriculum and Assessment        FLSA Status: Exempt

SUMMARY: The Coordinator of School Counseling is a Colorado School Counselor Corp Grant funded position aimed at increasing the graduation rate, decreasing the dropout rate, improving college persistence rates, and decreasing postsecondary remediation rates. This position is also an integral part of ensuring all students meet or exceed the 9-R Mindset and Behavior Graduation Standards for Postsecondary and Career Readiness. The role of the coordinator is to develop a collaborative culture among secondary school counselors to develop and implement systems, procedures, and routines for ensuring that we achieve the goals set forth in our grant. The Coordinator of School Counseling will collaborate with the entire Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment team, school leaders, school counselors and academic advisors to achieve our goals. He/she will demonstrate passion and transformational leadership in providing quality learning experiences for every student.

  • Manage the district’s School Counselor Corp Grant, including End of Year Reports, data collection, and budget.
  • Develop and implement systems, procedures, and routines for ensuring that 100% of students in grades 6-12 complete a meaningful ICAP experience at their grade level. (School Counselor Corp Grant goal)
  • Develop and implement systems, procedures, and routines to increase student self-management skills. (School Counselor Corp Grant goal)
  • Collaborate with secondary schools to develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program.
  • Facilitate collaboration and communication between schools to ensure that the comprehensive school counseling program is being delivered across all campuses and that it is meeting the needs of all students.
  • Lead a process to review and recommend curriculum resources aligned to the district’s Graduation Standards and to the district’s ICAP.
  • Lead others in successful implementation of quality formative and summative assessment practices.
  • Develop a data collection system to monitor progress on our goals, student achievement, and curricular implementation.
  • Analyze student and program related data for the purpose of providing information related to student and program achievement in order to evaluate program effectiveness and to provide information needed for strategic planning.
  • Facilitate adult learning in a way that develops the professional community’s compelling purpose, collective efficacy and shared responsibility for student learning, collaborative culture, communal application of effective teaching practices, deprivatized practice, relational trust, and individual/group learning based on ongoing assessment and feedback so that each educator and student meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Collaborate with school counselors and advisors to construct learning opportunities that facilitate systemic practices aligned to personalized mastery and competency in graduation standards and performance indicators. ? Observe counselor and advisor practice and provide cognitive coaching and feedback for professional growth and student success.
  • Support school leaders, instructional leadership teams, and teachers in using data to meet the needs of every student so that all students meet or exceed graduation standards and graduation competencies.
  • Collaborate with school counselors and advisors to construct parent outreach activities.

 

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrate faithfulness and promptness in attendance at work.

  • Demonstrate care of and protection of School District property
  • Report suspected child abuse or neglect as required by law.
  • Use the District’s internet and E-mail system as specified in Policy.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Director, Superintendent or their designees.
  • Models continual improvement, demonstrates lifelong learning, and applies new learning to help all students be successful.
  • Demonstrates evidence of professional growth, including leadership and participation in a wide range of significant professional development activities.

 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Minimum: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university. Master’s degree in School Counseling Preferred: Education and/or training in curriculum and assessment development.

 

EXPERIENCE: Minimum: Three years of successful school counseling experience required.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Counseling experience at middle and high school.
  • School leadership experience.
  • Experience in educator leadership, learning focused conversations, and/or cognitive coaching.
  • Experience implementing personalized learning practices in a competency-based learning model.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS Valid driver’s license required. Colorado School Counseling License required.

  • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively in a team setting
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
  • Ability to utilize formative and summative assessments to access student learning.
