SUMMARY: The Career and Technical Education Advisement Counselor is a Colorado Counselor Corp Grant funded position aimed at increasing the graduation rate, decreasing the dropout rate, improving college persistence rates, and decreasing remediation rates.  The position is also an integral part of ensuring all students meet or exceed the Graduation Standards and Graduation Requirements identified by our district and aligned to the Colorado Academic Standards by leading and coordinating an aligned and articulated curriculum and assessment program in Career and Technical Education. The role of this position is to develop and articulate CTE Pathways with postsecondary and career options for the success of every student.  The Career and Technical Education Advisement Counselor will collaborate with the entire Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment team to align curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices in relation to the district vision and mission.  He/she will demonstrate passion and transformational leadership in providing quality learning experiences for every student.  The Career and Technical Education Advisement Counselor is not a supervisory position and will not include the evaluation of teachers, school counselors, and academic advisors.

  • Lead the development of aligned Career and Technical Education Plans of Study, 6-12.
  • Lead a process to review and recommend curriculum resources and career development programs aligned to the district’s Graduation Standards, Graduation Requirements, and to the district’s instructional framework.
  • Lead others in successful implementation of the district’s Plans of Study to ensure all students can compete and contribute in their chosen career field.
  • Develop partnerships with businesses in the community to leverage apprenticeships, internships, and work experience opportunities for students.
  • Manage the district’s Carl Perkins Grant and ensure compliance with state and national CTE requirements.
  • Collaborate with postsecondary partners to expand concurrent enrollment opportunities for students.
  • Collect and analyze student and program related data for the purpose of providing information related to student and program achievement to evaluate program effectiveness and to provide information needed for strategic planning.
  • Facilitate adult learning in a way that develops the professional community’s compelling purpose, collective efficacy and shared responsibility for student learning, collaborative culture, communal application of effective teaching practices, deprivatized practice, relational trust, and individual/group learning based on ongoing assessment and feedback so that each educator and student meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Present, Facilitate, Consult, and Collaborate with other educators to create and implement professional learning that results in the success of every educator and every student.
  • Observe (non-evaluative) teachers, counselors, and academic advisors’ practice and provide cognitive coaching and feedback for the professional growth and students’ success in meeting or exceeding graduation requirements.
  • Support school leaders, instructional leadership teams, teachers, counselors, and academic advisors in using data to meet the needs of every student so that all students meet or exceed graduation standards and graduation requirements.

 

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Demonstrate faithfulness and promptness in attendance at work.
  • Submit required reports promptly at the times specified.
  • Demonstrate care of and protection of School District property
  • Report suspected child abuse or neglect as required by law.
  • Use the District’s internet and E-mail system as specified in Policy.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Director, Superintendent or their designees.
  • Models continual improvement, demonstrates lifelong learning, and applies new learning to help all students achieve.
  • Demonstrates evidence of professional growth, including leadership and participation in a wide range of significant professional development activities.

 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

Minimum:  Bachelor’s degree from accredited university. 

Preferred:   Education and/or training in curriculum and assessment development. 

 

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum: Three years of successful school counseling experience in preferred.

Preferred:  Experience with Career and Technical Education

    Experience in educator leadership, learning focused conversations, and/or cognitive coaching.

    Experience implementing personalized learning practices in a competency-based learning model.

 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS 

Valid driver’s license required.  Colorado School Counseling License.  Colorado CTE Director’s License preferred.

  • Ability to promote and follow Board and District policies, Superintendent policies and building/department procedures.
  • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively in a team setting
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
  • Ability to utilize formative and summative assessments to access student learning.
