Durango School District 9-R is accepting applications for a Head Volleyball Coach at Escalante Middle School to begin the 2017/2018 school year.  This coaching position involves instructing middle school students (grades 7 and 8) in the fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training of volleyball. We are a member of the San Juan Basin Middle School League; practice begins the first week of August 2017 and the season ends mid October 2017. We have a "no cut" policy with two competitive teams and two exploratory teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to organize and positively lead athletes and volleyball coaching staff
• Extensive knowledge of effective coaching practices/techniques of volleyball
• Ability to build rapport with middle school students
• Ability to build individual and team character and confidence
• Ability to relate to students of varying athletic abilities
• Ability to conduct oneself in an ethical and exemplary manner at all times
• Ability to work positively and communicate effectively with coaches, staff, parents and administration
