Durango School District 9-R is recruiting licensed substitutes for the 2017-18 school year to provide coverage for teachers.
We are recruiting substitutes able to work a flexible schedule at multiple locations and in different positions. Often assignments are posted early in the morning for the current day and substitutes often get called as early as 5 a.m.
Requirements include:
- Valid Colorado Department of Education license. A 3- or 5-year Colorado substitute authorization is also accepted. Contact Colorado Department of Education at http://www.cde.state.co.us/cdeprof to apply.
- Experience working with children. Experience in a classroom setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal communication, basic language, basic math, and basic writing skills.
- Minimum of two professional or academic references. We do not accept family or friends as references.
Willingness to substitute in the preschool in addition to higher grades is a plus. (Note that Colorado requires additional fingerprints of all preschool staff).
Candidates must also have strong computer skills. Substitutes are required to navigate through electronic system independently to accept and decline assignments; maintain their schedules; view teacher's notes; and communicate with teachers.
